The goal of the webinar series is to share information, encourage learning and open discussion, and foster stronger networks among Caribbean cancer registry stakeholders. Each webinar focuses on a different topic of interest.

This 4-part series focuses on cancer registry coding and staging for persons who are new to cancer registration and for persons in newly established cancer registries in the Caribbean. The series is facilitated by GICR Regional trainers Nkese Felix (Trinidad and Tobago) and Goncalo Forjaz (NCI).

This webinar includes a presentation by the Principal Investigator for the Caribbean Hub, on the work of the IARC Caribbean Cancer Registry Hub including ongoing and planned Hub activities. The Manager of the Bahamas National Cancer Registry presents on the Initial experience in the development and outcomes of the Bahamas National Cancer Registry which documents the steps taken to implement a population-based cancer registry in the Bahamas. The Status of ongoing activities, challenges, and impact of COVID-19 on registry operations for Trinidad and Tobago is presented by the Cancer Registrar (Ag.) of the Dr Elizabeth Quamina National Cancer Registry.

The Caribbean Registry Manual: Data Collection and Operating Procedures Module was developed by the Hub in April 2018 and is freely available for use by Caribbean cancer registries. Standard procedures for case finding, abstracting, coding, data entry and secure storage of data and paper files are detailed in the manual. This webinar covers how the manual was developed and Chapter 1 of the Manual.

The Call for Data for Volume XII of the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents (CI5) publication is scheduled to be issued in 2021.
