Data Quality Assessments

The IARC Caribbean Cancer Registry Hub provides technical support to improve the quality of cancer data generated by Caribbean cancer registries with the goal of supporting registries to meet international reporting standards. One of the ways that this is achieved is through external quality reviews of existing cancer registry datasets.

Once the data have been reviewed and assessed, a formal report, including recommendations is written and shared with the registry and other key in-country stakeholders. A virtual meeting is then scheduled with the country team to review the report findings and provide clarification as needed and to discuss the recommendations and determine a timeline for implementation.

An evaluation of the quality and completeness of cancer registry data was completed for the following registries:
  • Elizabeth Quamina Cancer Registry in Trinidad and Tobago
  • National Cancer Registry in Guyana
